By the roadside in England there are white fluorescent barcodes [2ft x 6''] – What are they for?
When I say “white fluorescent” I mean that they are made of white on white stripes with the stripes being reflective.

“Mr. Scientist” I’m refering to roadsigns not road markings. The Google Maps reference was just to give an example location. You can’t see the roadsign from the aerial shot – it’s stuck on a lampost.
The barcodes are by the side of the road and would not generally be noticed by road users, i.e. they’d be looking straight ahead, hopefully.
Sounds like some form of 2ft high marker erected at a dangerous part of the road especially at night therefore the reflective bit. The use of marker post with reflective strips is sometimes used on rural roads to mark hazards such as driveways or culverts. and that is apart from posts usually put on the outside of bends on rural roads with red reflectors on one side and white on the other.
