I plugged an xbox to a 220v?
Hello.
I plugged my xbox 360 and plugged it into a 220v socket, instead of a 110v socket.
The power supply brick thing doesn’t light up anymore when I plug it in on a 110 v socket, and smells like smoke.
I suppose my console still works, however the power supply was plugged in to my console before I even plug it in a 220v socket. No one here owns a 360 on the Philippines, erm, specifically the place where I live. Please help, my mom is gonna kill me when she finds out about this.
Additional info:
The console was bought from a US base in Japan, and is in English. I suppose it still has warranty. [Though, the warranty is in America, meaning I still have to send it there and get it fixed for me]
More details:
I highly doubt i overloaded it, since it was the first time I got to take it out from its box since i played with it in Japan. [Which was... a month ago]
Do I need to buy a new power brick, and how much would it cost?
Or do I need to buy a new 360? I hope not :S
I’m from Quezon City and the same thing happened to me with my first X360. You blew the power brick (the gray heavy thing) down. The hard drive, console, and AV cable are probably alright. The best thing to do is buy a new one. Microsoft does not sell separate parts for X360, so you have to buy from somewhere else. Which means you can only buy a secondhand adapter from a poor sap who got the red lights. I went to Greenhills in San Juan, and a new power supply costs around P2,000-P2,500. But if you can’t afford to spend that much, try having the adapter fixed. It’s around 1k. My XBOX is 3 years old and it’s been through a lot, but I’ve had no more problems after I bought a new adapter.
And yes, tell your mom.
