Furnishing and decorating a basement rec room.?
This room in my house was my place to play growing up. I still spend a lot of time down there.
Stairs lead right to it, no doorway. No windows either, so lighting ideas are welcome.
We call it the “red room” even though the only thing red is the carpet (which is being replaced) I’d like to be able to keep calling it that.
This room has ugly faux wood paneling (feels like cardboard) that we we want to hide or replace. I need wall ideas!
I want to turn it into a friendly environment to host my high school aged friends in.
Foosball table going in. Bar going out
Any suggestions for how we should decorate it and use the space?

Since there is no doorway, you could get red beads and let them hang from the doorway. That way you could still call it the “red room”.Use pops of red all over, like pictures, pillows, etc.
For the walls, you could buy drywall to put up (might be expensive). You could also just paint over the paneling. If you paint it, paint it white. It will make the room brighter. with pops of red everywhere it wont look so dull.
Use lots of lamps to make the room bright (or use track lighting).
Find a game table with multiple games. Maybe one with foosball, pool table, and table tennis.

Get a tv and dvd player so you and your friends can have movie nights. A popcorn machine would be cool too.
