Growing Peppers, on a balcony.?
ive got chilli jalapeno, sweet pepper californian wonder, sweet pepper yolo wonder and chilli cayenne.
but i got them mixed up as seeds so i dont know which is which.
I have one plant in a pot and it has 7 flowers and about 5 buds waiting to flower. the thing is….
….the flowers have gone brown, is this normal?
and how long will it take to get peppers to grow on them?
bare in mind, im in england and live in a block of flats (no garden)
i have been putting the strong plant in a vivarium that i used to have a lizard in, with a 50w spotlamp, for the heat.
am i doing right?

First of all, have the flower buds opened if they have and the flowers have gone brown and small chilli’s or peppers are growing then don’t panic.
Peppers do grow outside but they need a very sunny and sheltered position and are really a greenhouse fruit so placing them in the vivarium with the sun lamp will help though to tell the truth natural light is best for them.
On your balcony it may well be too open and exposed and the best way if you have no greenhouse is place the plants on a sunny windowsill and move the plants a quarter of a turn every two or three days so they don’t lean towards the light. This works especially if you are growing chilli’s, as they make great houseplants for kitchen windowsills.
If you do have peppers and chilli’s growing then now your fruit has set and formed feed every 7-10 days with a tomato feed to enhance the growth of your crop and pick once the fruit is big enough for use.
