My newly built computer wont turn on?
The power supply makes this high pitched noise but dosent spin its fan at all. No signs of power in the mobo either.
This is my first time building a computer and the front panel display didn’t come with a power LED wire. Is that a problem?
Are you sure its the PSU screaming? If the GPU is an 8800 or higher nVidia, it needs power plugged into it.
Never build a new computer in the case.
Always start by placing the Motherboard on a piece of cardboard.
Then apply the CPU and heatsink (with thermal paste) – Intels are hard to secure properly in the case also.
Plug the CPU fan into the CPUFan header.
Then add 1 stick of RAM.
Clear the CMOS using the onboard jumper for 1 minute.
Then add the PSU to the Main connector, Cpu connector, and the GPU.
Using a screwdriver, you touch the PWR pins for 1 second.
If it does not start, move the stick of ram to the next slot, repeat until all slots and all sticks have been tried as singles. Last test is to use 2 stick in Dual channel.
After that if still failing, start with replacing the PSU.
If your PUS is making funny noises, as suggested, check all connections and wirings. After that replace the PSU.
