is a ballast required to run a 1000 watt hps bulb (E39 base),?
or can i just use a E39 socket without the ballast? will it work fine?
All HID lights need a ballast to operate. Well almost, there is one self-ballasted Metal Halide on the market that does, but all others do require one.
