What should i set my amp to (HPF, LPF, Gain, Bass Booster) with 2 12 inch subs and an 800 watt amp?
i have 2 12 inch kicker comp vr subs bridged to 4 ohms to an 800 watt 2 channel amp. on the amp there are 4 nobs, hpf, lpf, gain, and bass booster. i am wondering what to set them all to, to get best sound and maximum bass without too much rattling.
You dont technically need meters to set gains. Generally you can turn your head unit up to 3/4 volume and turn the gain up until you can hear distortion. Many amp manuals suggest this way. Use common sense. Sadly, most people dont have it.
Another way to roughly tell is, when you lower the head unit volume, if the sub starts to sound too loud for the speakers, the gain is too high. So, if you turned the volume low but the subs all of a sudden seem too loud, your gain is too high.
