Problems with my bearded dragons being aggressive kinks and discolour in tail and lack of energy?
Hi my bearded dragon has 2 kinks in his tail and is a different tone of colour to the rest of his body, i think its old skin on his tail and it has not sheaded off he has shed 3 times since ive had him hes about 7 – 8 months old, and also whenever i try to take him out and hold him hes quite aggressive hes striked me several times but doesn’t try anymore he just puffs his beard and body up and i get him, he will stay with me for a few minutes then get aggetated and try and jump off and run away from me, i have a UVB 10.00 Light and a Ceramic 100Watt heat lamp in a 2FT Tank, i feed him bok choi and live crickets and sometimes beans and peas, i feed him everyday and another thing most of the time he just sits in the corner of his tank and stands up with his hands up against the glass and trys to climb it sometimes he never really does too much else in his tank that i see, can anyone help me with my bearded dragon ?
It sounds like your dragon has had incomplete sheds and needs leftover skin removed from his tail. Put him in a warm tub of water to soak the dry/dead skin and see if you can carefully remove it. His tail is kinked because the dead skin is cutting off blood flow. He may be aggressive because it hurts, or perhaps you have not socialized with him enough.
Also make sure you are providing high quality UVB light. As the bulb ages it gives off less and less UVB. They need to be changed every 4-6 months, depending on the quality of the bulb.
Your dragon is still growing. He needs a more varied diet every day. Give him more vegitables with his crickets, and give him enough crickets that he doesn’t want any more. Use a good vitamin/calcium powder to dust them at least twice a week.
