What’s the best way to light my room up blue?
Hey, this is a question I have searched around for on the web for a while and, for once in my life, I haven’t come up with any good answers. Basically, I want to have a lot of deep blue light in my room. I was thinking I should buy some blue light-bulbs, but the shipping was $10 and I’m a poor college student, so I can’t really afford that. Is there a place where they can be bought, at say, a wal-mart, lowes, or home depot?
Also, how hard is it to paint one myself, and would it give off enough light if I did this? (I think my lamps are either 50W or 90W capacity, I can’t remember what type of bulb I have in there). Also, would a blue lamp shade change the light color?

You could paint some yourself, using blue nail polish or other acrylic paint, just check the label for heat limits. That will greatly diminish the output of your lightbulbs, meaning waste of electricity.

You also could use a sheet of clear plastic used in drop-ceilings (Home Depot), paint THAT, use it over your window and/ or to bounce the lights against.
Much cheaper than that, but not free, is real cellophane paper (Michael’s or other craft store), use over windows, cover the lamp shades for good blue tones. JUST PLEASE remember cellophane is flammable! You can do a lot with it, but NOT close to the bulbs, PLEASE.
In ‘old’ films you’ve probably seen the femme fatale draping a silk scarf over a lampshade. Beautiful. Dangerous!
