Why do the corals in my tank grow so much?
I know it’s not a serious question, but I’m just curious…I have a mixed reef tank ( 210 gallons ) with LED lighting. It’s not really bright enough for the tank ( according to…everyone) but my corals are growing like crazy under it. I’ve got several different types SPS , LPS, Soft corals, a Maxima clam. All of the corals , every single one, more than double in size every month. The only ones I’m having trouble with are the Kenya trees…hm…anyway, is it a bad thing that they are growing quickly? Or perhaps they are growing at a normal rate…and I’m crazy?
( Again, I’m aware that I’m ‘ supposed to have’ metal halides on the 210…but, the corals are growing, the color on them in magnificent, so…yeah)
It’s not bad that they’re growing, if anything it is good. As long as your corals are okay with low lighting there is nothing wrong with not having metal halide, you just wouldn’t be able to have very sensitive corals, they would probably die when you first got them. If everything looks healthy and is growing you don’t have any problems.
