I can’t find the right lighting system for my planted tank?
Still deciding on what i’m getting, a 20 gal, or a 29 gallon. Problem is, this tank is going to be heavily planted, so those regular hood doesn’t supply enough light for the plants. (All the regular hoods are single strip, and @ 20 watts of light, none of which will be suitable for a 20 or a 29 gallon). I’m thinking of those Hagen T5 light system, but are a bit pricey @ 100 dollars. How about fluorescent lights at home depot?

You also might want to try Compact Fluorescent. True, they might now penetrate the water as much, but they are a very good lighting system:

I prefer the Satellite Compact Fluorescent, but it’s up to you. With these (for 20 or 29 gallon) you can replace the combo 10K/6700K with a 6700K daylight bulb which is better for plant photosynthesis:
