Can I use a 150 watt Metal Halide with a 250 ballast?
I have a 25 gallon tall Nano, and someone is selling a 250 watt ballast but I think that 250 watts would be too much for the size of the aquarium. Can i use a lower wattage with this ballast?? Also, what would be a recommended amount for this size aquarium without frying my coral and fish?
your a little confused the ballast is what makes the floresent light light up and it doesn’t affect the watage of the bulb you need to check the ballest for your hood and see what size it is it may be they your hood uses a 250 watt ballast if it doesn’t then I wouldn’t get the 250 watt ballast
as far as the lighting wattage coral tends to require what is called full spectrium
check out the articals at www.drefostersmith.com on recommended lighting
but rember the ballast has nothing to do with the wattage of the lights themselves
