Dell Latitude D600 Problems?
Alright, so i have had this computer for probably half of a year. I am a very careful, almost OCD with my computers. I got this computer in replacement for an Acer with the power input. Well now this computer is having problems like that. The A/C Adapter light is on when plugged in. When i plug it into my laptop, the battery charging green LED will not turn on, on the laptop itself. It will not charge the battery, and will not run on just A/C power, it will only run on battery power and i only have a bar of battery left on it. I was thinking about buying a new adapter and battery. Also when it first started acting up, it said to plug in a Dell 65W adapter or higher, and it said something like, going to battery power and the battery will not charge. i have a 90 watt one, that came with it. i was think about buying an after market battery and A/C adapter (65w) instead of 90w
This was interesting for me to see. As a laptop tech who has worked on many D600s, it never occurred to me that there might be different adapters that all work on the d600. I did a little ebay research and see just that. It seems that some D600s require a 90w and others require a 65w adapter. My guess is that, given the specific message you are seeing, you should probably acquire a 65w adapter. Someone went to the trouble of programing your system board to say that and take those precautions so your laptop must require the 65w.
