Metal Halide Bulbs (HQI) Effects on Eyes!?
I currently have a metal halide setup 2×250 HQI and 4×65 compact flourescent I bought off ebay link is here http://cgi.ebay.com/48-760W-Metal-Halide-Aquarium-Light-New_W0QQitemZ130124302245QQihZ003QQcategoryZ46314QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem I am curious if this is bad for my eyes. The Metal halides are covered by a thick glass but im not sure if its uv filtered. Will it ruin my eyes or cause cancer any help would be great thanks.
P.S. I have a 55 gallon tank and am considering how much light i should be using from this fixture. Thanks
As long as you dont look straight at it, its ok. It does cause effects on fishes though. It can cause cloudy eyes to certain fishes and in time it will turn to disease. Make caves.
