Need help wiring a light?
I need help wiring a High Pressure Sodium (HPS) lamp
Here’s how the ballast says it needs to be wired:
I have:
ballast
ignitor
bulb socket
HPS bulb
Now my question(s)
I assume the L stands for live and the N for neutral, so where’s the ground? Do I need one?
To make this work do I simply need to wire the L and N wire to a two prong plug, have the L run into the ballast. The N wire must then run into the bulb socket and into the ignitor, then exit the bulb socket and also go into the ignitor. Then have a wire from ignitor to ballast?
Is that it? Does it matter which way the two wires go into the bulb socket (it’s a screw type)?

You’re close enough that the difference isn’t important. L stands for line, not live, but you have the idea. The line is the copper or gold colored screw and the line or hot wire is black. Neutral is the silver colored screw and the neutral wire is white. Ground is colored green. As the other answer says, a ground is a good idea.
