Coral types and light time for 10 gallon tank?
I have a salt water aquarium with 2 percula clown and 2 hermit crabs running for 2 months with 8lbs live rock. I am planning to start a reef aquarium. I am using 2×24 watt T5HO light fixture with 4 lunar led light. can you tell me what kind of coral can I start with (Mushrooms, zoos, polyps…), also do let me know the time the light should be on and the time the lunar led should be on? I dont have a separate switch for my white HO(10000K) and actinic lights, they both come on with one switch, the lunar led has a separate switch.
1. you already have a reef tank, live rock = reef.
2. get two timers for the lights, hopefully you also have two cords. If you don’t, then don’t worry about the lunar light, leave it off and just run the others about 8-10 hours a day, whenever you are most likely to be looking at the tank.
3. avoid buying too many corals, they won’t do well long term, just get the mushrooms and zooanthids. No anemone, tank’s too small
4. make sure you have enough turbulence in the tank. up to about 150 gph in flow from your filter(s) or pumps. get an adapter with nozzles to spread flow around in different directions
