Tropical Fish Aquarium : Plant Growing Help?
Hi a few questions:
* Do I need special substrate?
* Do they require food or is it optional?
* Is a normal 50W tank light ok?
* What type of plants are easiest to look after
* Any tips please?
- Depends on the plants. If you’ve got heavy root feeders like swords, they’ll appreciate it. But in that case, you can supplement with root tabs if you have to.
-Again, depends on what plants you’re keeping. Most stem plants will need it. Root feeders will need it if you’re not keeping them on proper substrate.
-50W of what kind and spectrum? Lighting is the most important thing for plants. You also didn’t say how large your tank was, so that has to be taken in as a factor, too.
-Java ferns, Anubias species, various mosses, and Cryptocoryne species are all easy to care for. Remember, java ferns and Anubias should not be planted in the substrate…they do best tied to driftwood or rock, and allowed to grow on it.
