Guitar amp power consumption?
I have a 15W guitar amp, yet on the back it says power consumption is 21.5W. Now I know that power consumption and power output are two completely different things, but does this mean that 6.5W of the total power consumption is being used in different forms of energy such as light (LED’s) and heat?

You are right on target. The Power Input, and Power Output are different. There are always losses when converting electrical power to “something else”.
You are inputting 21.5 Watts, and the output is 15 Watts. Thats about a 70% conversion efficiency. The missing 6.5 Watts is disapated as heat and vibration in the conversion process.
In an electric motor — where you are converting “electrical energy” (input) into “mechanical energy” (output) there is about an 80 to 85% conversion efficiency. A 1 Horsepower electric motor has an output of 1 Horsepower, or 746 Watts. But to get that 746 Watts in equivalent Mechanical output, you have to input about 950 to 1000 Watts. So its like you input about 1.2 HP to get 1.0 HP at the output. Very similar situations.
There are always efficiency losses — output will always be less than the power input.
