I want to make a large LED light array that has many colors.?
I want to make a large LED light array that has many colors. The problem is that I have very little electrical engineering experience or experience with LEDs. I was wondering if anyone knows a site with information on this subject.
My main questions are:
1. Can LEDs of different color, luminosity and/ or voltage be combined on a single array?
2. What other materials do I need to make this (besides the LEDs)?
An example of what I am trying to make would be:

you use exactly the same principle as colour televisions. you cluster the leds in arrays of 3, red, green and blue
you vary the intensity of each colour by varying its average current – the simplest way is to use Pulse Width Modulation (PWM)
You then have to scan each cluster to form your picture.
Once again, the best way is to have row / column drivers – the column drivers drive the anodes, the column drivers the cathodes.
As for components, the major components are some form of processor and some form of driver chip
