It really depends on the application of the lighting and what you are looking for. The LED lights are very energy efficient, and the bulb life is very long. That being said, a LEDs do not produce a lot of light. This is why you will see a bunch of LEDs clustered together in things like flashlights and traffic lights. Another characteristic of a LED is that the light produced, while intense, is very directional. In other words, an LED does not spread light around a room, but instead will focus a beam of light in a concentrated spot. This is why you will usually see LEDs used on things like flashlights, and not light bulbs to light up a room.
