In a hydroponic system, what lighting is better? fluorescent or halogen?
I am making a hydroponic system for growing and i have two lights that i think would work better; the cri 80 florescent light or a halogen flood lamp?
Hello,
My husband is an electrical designer for commercial buildings and lighting is his area of expertise. He suggests the cri 80 flourescent bulb, however there is an cri 86 which is even more full spectrum. The efficacy (lumins per watt) of the flourescent lamp is 10x higher than the halogen is expensive to operate. The fluorescent has a higher color spectrum which is what you want for plants.
