I need to power a high voltage lamp using batteries that will last a long time. can i do something like that?
The lamp is built to be connected to an outlet. That is not an option because there is no outlet near enough for even an extension cord to connect to
yah it is a growing light. i just thought there was a way i could hook up some d batteries or whatever to power my lamp.
Is there a particular lamp you have to use?
Why does it have to be a “high voltage” lamp, whatever that is?
How many hours do you expect out of a battery?
You can buy battery operated flourescent lights that have a good lifetime.
Or you can get two 6 volt lattern batteries and drive an inverter which drives a CFL (compact flourescent lamp).
they are rated at 11 amp-hours, or 66 watt hours. Two of them get you 130 watt hours. Subtract for inverter and you get 110 watt hours. That will run a 20 watt CFL, which has the brightness of a 60 watt incandescent, for 6 hours.
That is the best you can get, unless you start using large car batteries.
