My led grow light is surging at 1 time per second? Why?
I have a UFO-style LED grow light for my tomatoes. It’s been working great, but lately it “pulses” every second or so. Th epulse is a brief flicker of light that’s more intense than the normal lights. I confirmed that by attaching a Kill-a-Watt on it. When it’s doing the surge/pulse thing, the lamp draws about 20% more watts.
The pulsing often stops after a few minutes, and the light returns to its stable self drawing the normal amount of power.
Lately, after I turn it on, it will do it’s PULSE PULSE PULSE indefinitely. So, yes: my LED is now drawing too much wattage near permanently.
I don’t know LED technology well. But I’m pretty sure the LED’s are controlled by some capacitor (or whatever), and I’m pretty sure that’s where the problem is.
If whomever reading this knows the general schematics, I’m hoping that person can guide me through taking the light apart and fixing what’s necessary.
