HPS Lighting system?
I want to buy a HPS lighting system. However, I want it to be an interchangable system. So I can switch between an MH and HPS bulb. Does anyone know a good website(or store) that I can Purchase one from?
Do you really need to switch? I did that years ago, and about five years ago went to just HPS for my tomatoes and plants that the harvest/yield is important (my lettuce and celery do fine under a couple of plain old compact fluorescents) — they are in the grow stage for such a short period of time. I have not seen any reduction of quality or quantity of harvest, and have not had any problem with putting the plants back into growth (18/6) for a couple of weeks then back to flowering (12/12). I’ve got a couple of plants that are actually four years old.
However, check out Future Garden (Long Island, NY) (link below) — I trust them implicitly, and they have dual systems.
I also just picked up a couple of smaller HPS units from an outfit that sells on e-Bay — htgsupply — they have an excellent reputation, maintain your privacy, and overall I have been very pleased with them (they’re out of PA).
