metal halide bulbs Cheap vs Expensive?
I have a metal halide light fixture for my reef tank is a double ended 250 watts and needs replacing soon its a 14k. My question is why is there a big difference in price i found them from 15 to 90 bucks a piece only difference is the brand is there any info out there to help me with this , are cheap lights crap? any help would be great

You get what you pay for – plain and simple.
If you do some research, there are definitely quality differences between bulbs. You may see many bulbs with similar statistics and different prices, but that has nothing to do with the quality.
Things like responsiveness of coral to the light, how long the light bulb will last, how long the light will put out maximum intensity, color temperatures, par readings, etc etc etc. These are all things that the higher end brands take into consideration and research themselves to get the best light output for our aquariums. I believe that the prices in this industry are justified.
