can a lava lamp light be used to grow plants indoors?
it’s 75 watt type R20 bulb 120v/60Hz I’ve always wondered if the lava lamp light would be suitable to grow an actual plant indoors. I’m not sure if it is the same light used to grow plants or if its possible.
Absolutely not.
It wouldn’t produce NEARLY enough light.
About 4 flourescents with aluminum or mylar surrounding an area will suffice to grow some plants indoors…but a single 75w lamp…no way. As I tell everyone who asks questions like this, if you want to get serious about growing any type of plant indoors, get a High-intensity discharge light. If you’re growing anythign for it’s flower, fruit or crop you’ll need a higher wattage light (400-600…maybe even 1000). If you just wanna get vegetative growth out of some houseplants try a 150 / 250 or 400w HPS bulb.
