How to transfer bamboo plant from one spot to another?
So there’s some bamboo growing across the street from my house and I’ve gotten permission from the owner to transfer some of the bamboo to plant against the fence in my backyard – how do I go about transferring the plant though?
It’s fully grown bamboo, too – so they are long shoots of the plant.

The day before you intend to dig, soak both the new site and the old pretty thoroughly.
Dig *large* hole in new location.
Dig large clump of bamboo.
Move the clump to a new hole — you may need slings.
Fill the rest of the hole with soil.
Water, and continue to do so in the next few months.
(Don’t forget to fill the hole up at the neighbor’s place, too!)
If this bamboo species appears to go dormant in your area, it would be best to transplant during the dormant period.
