Can I use a digital dimmer switch for an LED light bulb?
I was wondering if it were safe to use a standard digital dimmer switch on a LED light bulb – not CFL made to be dimming unless that’s possible. I know they’re pricey but it saves a lot of money in the long run. Thanks!
Depending on how the LEDs are powered in the lamp as to whether they can be dimmed. Most can but some work much better than others. Need to clear up a couple of things here. Some CFLs can be dimmed but it usually takes a special dimmer. And a dimmer is not a simple rheostat that simply divides the voltage down. It is usually a triac that controls the AC waveshape. If you read some reviews of LED lamps you will see which ones work ok with standard dimmer switches.
