How to connect 50 LEDs?
I need to connect 50 infrared LED in order to form a big lamp that will help my infrared camera at night. I will use 110v power source.
I need someone who can explain me how to do this setup and what resistor to use
Here are the specs of the LEDs:
5mm IR Infrared LED 940nm
Emitted Colour : Infrared
Size: 5mm
Lens Color : Water Clear
Forward Voltage (V) : 1.5~1.6
Forward Current (mA): 60mA Continuous, 120mA peak for 10% Pulse Width
wavelength (nm):940
View Angle: 15-30 degree.
I believe that LEDs require DC power, not AC. So you’d need to rectify the AC to DC.
I’m not certain of this, but it seems to me that if you wired them in series, you’d get close to the right voltage. Of course, series wiring has the old Christmas light defect, i.e. if one LED burns out, nothing works.
So it’s probably best to wire them in parallel with a 1.5 – 1.6 VDC source.
