what is the difference between led and mh
LED technology has recently improved to the point where it is practical to use them in grow light applications. They produce light much more efficiently than other light sources, and produce much less heat.
The LEDs have wavelengths corresponding to the peak photosynthesis absorption spectra of plants. LED technology is more expensive at present, but prices will probably continue to fall as production is increased. LEDs have a very long life.
Metal Halide grow lamps are one type of High Intensity Discharge lamp which is often used in conjunction with high pressure sodium lamps. The MH lamps are bluish in color and exhibit a spectrum similar to sunlight. They also produce more ultraviolet light, which may be useful in certain kinds of plants.
