Can indoor lighting help plants grow?
I just got my first plant. The tag says it’s Assorted Foliage.
Anyways it gets really hot here in the summer and the tag says well lit room during daylight hours. Since it gets so hot here I tend to keep my blinds closed during the day. If I keep the plant inside will fluorescent lighting be enough to nurture it with life until it cools down enough to put it outside? Or should I put it in the sun an hour or so every day?

Congratulations on your first plant! “Assorted foliage” usually refers to a variety of different low light plant species growing together. If so, they will do just fine under fluorescent lights. However, the lights must be within five feet of the plants and they must be left on for at least 8 hours each day. Try to use CFL’s that are higher wattage for best results.
These plants must be protected from any sunlight shining directly on the leaves. A north window sill is fine, but a south windowsill is not. If you move them outside, which I don’t recommend, be sure to keep them in deep shade at all time.
