how do you change the high level brake bulb on a BMW e39?
you mean the 3rd brake light below the rear windshield? if you open your trunk, close to the seal, center of trunk under the area of the actual light you will find a black cover about 2″ square, remove this and you will see a black socket. if you turn this socket 90 degrees the socket will come out with the bulb, i recomend replacing both bulb and socket because usually the culprit is a burnt socket and not the bulb, sometimes both are burnt..
