If a 60 watt 220 volt light bulb is run at 115 volts, does it still use 60 watts of electricity?

just wondering.
its been bugging me for a while now
and my brain tells me it’ll overload if I try to calculate find this myself. my brain feels over used these past few days.
No it will not!
How much power a bulb consumes depends upon the resistance of its filament.
A 60 Watt 220V bulb means that it will consume 60 Watts when the voltage across it is 220V.
In such a case the current flowing through it will be given by I= W/V = 60/220 = Amperes.
And the resistance of the filament will be W/I^2= (60 * 220/60* 220/60) = 806.67 ohms
Now when you put the same bulb in an American socket, its resistance is unchanged..you just apply 115 volts across it instead of 220V. In this case the current flowing through the bulb will be given by,
V/R = 115/806.67= 0.143 Ampere
And the power would be V*I = 115 * 0.143 = 16.39 watts.
So effectively you will get the same amount of illumination from this bulb when you use it in US, as a ~16 watt bulb used in Europe.
