Can any one please let me know why Follicles will not grow sometimes on Colmid?
Hmm I’m on Clomid 50 mg from past 2 cycles, last cycle I really responded well with the dosage where I had one big mature follicle at 25mm on 16th day of the cycle but in this cycle there were 2 follicles with 10mm on 17th day and my Dr repeated the u/s again on 19th day then the follicle had grown for just 1 mm I mean it was 11 mm, then she said “It looks like collapsing follicle (not sure what exactly she meant)”. She asked me to take blood test again on 19th of this month to check my progesterone levels to check whether I had Ovulation or not!!!
Now my concern is how come Follicle did not grow to the expected size? What could be the reason for not letting it grow even though I was on Clomid? Has any one of you faced the same issue like mine, please share it………….
Follicles will not grow sometimes while on Clomid,
in specific cases if you have a decreased response to Danazol, which is the active ingredient.
In such cases an increase in dosage schedule from 50 to 100 mg
as per the Doctor’s advise may be needed.
You need not become anxious, as the drug may have to be repeated for up to 6 months.
Then Only investigate for other factors, like Pituitary, Adrenal Functions etc., which have a role in Ovulation.
Your Doctor has already done Ultrasound Scan etc., to rue out local factors adverse to Ovulation, and has started on the Right Medicine which is an Ovulation inducer.
