I have a light fixture that takes 3 60W bulbs. If 2 bulbs are 60W, can I also use a 40w in the 3rd spot?
I am wondering because we are out of 60w bulbs as well as the stores around us. I wasn’t sure if 1 40W bulb would screw things up or something.
If the socket fits, it’s fine.
The power limit is generally there because the fitting can only take so much current safely. More current means more power. So using a 100W bulb would probably be bad, but a 40W one which uses less is just further into the safe zone.
