Live plant aquarium..?
I’m planing to start a 5-10 gallon aquarium with just a crap load of live plants and maybe a betta fish or kuhli loach. The starter kits have heaters and filters and lights I dont need ( need stronger wattage for plants ). Should I just buy the glass tank and start from there?
Got any tips? Do I need heater/filter? If I still need a filter, what kind? How expensive are the plants and do they multiply? what kind of subsrate? what are good plants? hard or soft water?

Yes you need a filter and heater for any live fish. A Whisper internal filter or a small power filter should do good on a 5 gallon tank. For a 10 gallon, an AquaClear power filter should do good: http://www.thatpetplace.com/pet/group/10614/product.web
The 20 or 30 model would be best for a 10.
You can buy the starter kit and add your own lights, or you can buy everything separately. If you buy the glass tank separately, you have more area to plant versus the minibow 5 gallon kit.
Plants can vary from free to $20+. They have many methods of multiplying. Swords, Vallisneria, Crypts, and almost every rosette plant forms runners, which are small vines that form baby plants on the end. Moss you just cut when it gets too big. Substrate can be sand, gravel, or special plant gravel. E-mail me if you’d like me to go in-depth on the different plant substrates.
Easy plants to start off with are Java Fern, any type of moss, and Anubias species. They can live in low light with no CO2 and fertilizers.
Some plants prefer soft water, and some prefer hard, but don’t mess with your hardness.
