Led Zeppelin would have been fine without Robert Plant. Sure, he had a unique voice, and Led Zeppelin would have sounded differently no doubt, but they would have made it just fine.
The Who without Moon would have been okay too. He was all energy, and not nearly as talented as people give him credit for. There would be a considerable difference for live shows, but you would never know the difference while listening to a record.
The Beatles without McCartney would be devastating for them. I’m not a big Beatles fan, but even I can recognize that he was a huge driving force to that band, and Lennon couldn’t have carried the entire load by himself. He was a good songwriter, and a very capable singer.
No David Gilmour, no Pink Floyd. His guitar made that band, plain and simple. They would have missed his singing as well, not to mention his songwriting. David Gilmour was the most important member of Pink Floyd , and without him, Floyd was a flop.
Slash was really the most talented member of Guns and Roses. I think his icon status among people vaulted G n R to the level they are at today, so without him, Guns and Roses doesn’t do so hot.
Van Halen was gone on without Diamond Dave before. Eddie is the group here too, so they would have been fine.
