is 120w t8 ok for a 4ft planted tank?
my tank is 4ft by 1.5ft by 1.5ft and have one 4ft 40w t8 fluro light.iam planning to either buy 1 light fitting that has 2 40w t8 tubes with included tubes or 1 double 55w t5 light fitting by hagen with no reflector and no included tubes.

The double T5 is really the best choice. T8s simply don’t offer enough light for such tall tanks. You can easily make a cheap reflector with tin foil (try to avoid crumpling), and the cost of lamps will be worth it when you see the growth you get.
Either of the fixtures would allow you to grow things like Java moss, Java fern, anubias, water sprite, hornwort, swords, Hygrophila, Vallisneria, Cryptocoryne, and Saggitaria species, as well as aquatic lilies. The T5s would expand your horizons to most all plants, especially low-growing ground covers (that don’t need constant pruning).
