forcing bulbs inside?
i had planted a few tulip bulbs in a container up to their shoulders, and placed them in the fridge. they are still there, about a month now. the root system should of settled in by now. what should i do now to get them to grow and bloom somtime in the winter? should i keep them there untill there are green leaves showing up and put it in the sun? freeze them? tips, ideas? thanks
Never freeze any bulbs. They need to be chilled about 12-16 weeks or so, then gradually bring them out to light and heat. This means you can put them in a cool and darker area, which is not in the refrigerator, like a cool back porch for instance. Gradually, as they get greener and send about 4 inches of growth up, accustom them to a bit brighter light and warmer temps.
