Why isn’t my computer not completely shutting down?
My brother’s computer was sitting in a corner for 3 years. I took out and put back the hard drives, and power supplies to get the dust out. I started up the computer and it runs well and everything, however when I shut it down it turns off, but inside there is an LED light (letting out a high pitch tone) next to the front panel power button’s connector to the motherboard. I thought I had missed a connector in the reassembly but I don’t see one. It’s a Dell Dimension 4600, thanks for your help.
the light on inside on the mother board is just from the battery on it. on every comp. there is a small watched size battery on the motherboard for various reasons mainly to keep the date and time right when it is off. But for the high pitched noise I don’t know. You should probably go to an electronic store to get it check out. Just go to best buy or another electronic store and tell them your problem. they will probably refer you to someone who can help.
