determening the required inductance of a ballast for a 100W fluorescent lamp so that the lamp is 20% lower than it’s rating(80W).
the line voltage is still 220V 60Hz assuming that the lamp stays at 100V and the resistance of the ballast is 15ohms
oops sorry for the wrong spelling
Lamp resistance = (100V ^2) / 80W
z^2 = r^2 + x^2
z = 220V^2 / 80W
r = lamp resistance + ballast resistance
therefore
Ballast inductance = sqrt (z^2 -r^2)
and you can calculate it.
