I used Ortho Ground Clear to kill my grass. I wanted to level the ground and re-sod. Will the new sod grow?
I did this about 2 weeks ago. I needed something strong enough to kill the weeds and remaining St. Augustine grass so I could re-sod with Zoysia. I realise now that I should have tried something weaker for starters, like Round Up, but I got some advice from a garden center and ignored the label…now I’m worried because it’s time to re-sod. My application was light by pump sprayer, not poured into the ground. My current plan is to till the ground, remove all the old grass (and maybe some soil), top with compost, level, and re-sod. Will my new sod grow or did I screw up big time? Any suggestions to counter-act the Ortho Ground Clear after so much time has passed?
prep the soil well with a rototiller. add compost & topsoil to increase level by 6 inches. install a sprinkler & drip system. consider landscaping by utilizing trees & drought tolerant plants to decrease your grass’ surface area. avoid using chemicals in your yard/gardens in the future. mulch well after all planting is completed.
