What is the best light for hydroponics?
I am wondering what the best type of lighting system to get would be on my grow box. I have seen grow boxes with metal halide lights, high pressure sodium light, LED lights, and fluorescent lights. What is the best light for hydroponics and yields?
There are various types of lighting systems that you can use when growing with hydroponics. Generally the best light is a high pressure sodium light. This is because it puts out a lot of lumens is in the proper wavelength spectrum that will give you great plant growth. Metal halides, are my more for vegetative growth and should only be used for plants during the vegetating cycle. LED lights and fluorescent lights use less electricity than the other types of light but also produce less yields but run cooler. So it’s all a trade-off.
